When these men (and a few select women) hop on jetskis out to a lineup in what feels like the middle of the ocean, to try to ride the energy of giants, they’re putting their bodies and their lives on the line. The force of these waves is enough to break you.

Not too long ago, however, a company named Violent Silence (Ren McGann, James Hallam and Tim Howe) got in touch with Red Bull. We’d never heard of them before, so we sat down and asked what it was they were doing. Turns out, what they’re trying to create could be a game-changer for spinal injuries, especially when we’re talking about spinal injuries in remote areas.
