We first met Hyliion here at Plugged In back in 2015 when the then student-led start-up was awarded the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Energy Entrepreneurship prize at the 15th annual Rice Business Plan Competition in Houston. They would go on to win the grand prize at the Department of Energy’s National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition in Washington, DC.
Their Co-Founder, Thomas Healy, is a former race car driver who found his love for the track when he was just nine years old. With competitions around the country, he became quickly used to following 18-wheelers full of racing gear down long highways.
