When it comes to the safety of new babies--the
"We hear a lot of things out in other hospitals where babies have been abducted, natural disasters happen and babies get separated from moms," head of the Women's Center, Shonda Gray, said.
So to ease everyone's minds, hospital officials decided it was time to crank up security.
A baby's first footprints, now digital, making sure new parents can keep track of their newborns.
Certa Scan is the new gold standard for identifying babies and their parents.
"We take a security photo of the baby, we do footprints of the baby and then a finger print of the mom and that's how they're connected together," Gray said.
A big addition for one of the smaller hospitals around. In fact, they are the first hospital in Louisiana to be able to use Certa Scan.
"[It's]Really nice to be the first hospital in Louisiana to be able to say hey we're using this technology.
In just one week of the system being active, NLMC has used Certa Scan to safely secure 15 newborn babies.
