Library to feature new technology

Many aspects of the new North Port library highlight the fact that it serves

many roles beyond loaning books, periodicals and other media. For example, there will be more computers and charging options for tablets, laptops and smartphones, as well as a collaboration room, where several students can hook their tablets in while viewing their work on a large video monitor.
But the coolest place where that versatility will be showcased is the Creation Station, which will house a 3-D printer and laser cutter, but could just as easily include several sewing machines, where people can explore their creative side, or a virtual reality setup.
“A lot of things that they would never buy at home or maybe never have an opportunity to put their hands on, they’ll have an opportunity to learn and at least see what the technology is, and see if it’s something they want to use themselves,” Totter said.
